Round Glass Top Dining Table Fright

The six girls sat at the round glass top dining table, silent.  They each gazed down through the glass at their bare feet, inspecting their toenails, refusing to lift their eyes for a moment.  Ashley’s big brother had warned them not to budge, or else.  It was late at night already, everyone wished they’d gone to bed hours ago but now, no one would dare.  They were too scared.   Minutes ago, they’d chatted carelessly about hair and makeup and everything else.  It stopped abruptly with some tremendous knocking on the front door.  It was past midnight.  No one should be knocking so late on a rainy night like this one.  Ashley’s brother had leapt away from the TV and told them not to move while he checked.  They listened.

And so the round glass top dining table set, fixed in the room like a large sleeping giant, not even daring to move. The girls quietly crept from under the edge of the large table and made thier way to the living room. One girl though was drawn to stop and look through the top of the crystal clear top. Below, nestled in the frame work of the legs, stamped in gold, was the name of custom dining table company that had made this lovely piece of furniture.
