Why People Buy Laptops
Laptops are generally more expensive than desktops. If a particular desktop has the same specifications of a laptop, like CPU speed, RAM size, hard drive, then the laptop will definitely be more expensive than the desktop. So why do people opt to buy laptops even though they cost more than desktops? The answer is simple. Portability adds more value to a laptop, which only the buyer can put a price on. To a buyer in need of a laptop, the laptop will seem cheaper compared to a desktop.

Having a laptop will be very convenient for people who travel a lot. Aside from travelers, laptops are actually beneficial to everyone since they can do their computing needs wherever they are – the mall, café, or just outside the house. There are even schools today that allow the use of a laptop during classes since they are more useful than a pad of paper and pencil. Laptops offer versatility that some people find it a necessity to bring a laptop wherever they are.

When you buy a computer, it is common sense to say that you will also need to do some printing. Computer stores take advantage of this concept by bundling a computer with a printer. Basically, a printer and a computer go hand in hand, which is why laptops should also be paired with compact printers. Since a laptop is generally a portable device, what better pair than a portable printer.

So what features should compact printers for a laptop have?

Structure
Portable printers should definitely be small. Since they are paired up with laptops, it will be advantageous if they fit in the same bag as the laptops. If they do not, they should at least have their own bags. Having their own bag will make it easier for them to be carried. However, there are some portable printers, which have their own handles, like the Epson PictureMate series. They are designed for portability and for printing photo quality pictures.

Quality printout
Good quality is need in compact printers for a laptop to be able to maximize their use. They should be able to maintain a certain degree of quality when it comes to printouts. For traveling photographers, it will be very useful for portable printers to create photo quality output. Some portable printers, like the PrintStik, offer resolutions as low as 200dpi. This will certainly be helpful if you just want to print texts while on the road. However, if you are a businessman who buys a printer for the purpose of printing professional documents while traveling, you should at least have a minimum resolution of 600dpi with colored printing capability.

Connectivity
These printers should be able to interface with most mobile gadgets. Laptops that are available in the market generally have at least one wireless interface. It could be infrared, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. A printer paired with this kind of laptop should have the same interface capability. It is good to know though that there are portable printers that offer more than one wireless interface.
